Nordic Folk Song Suite
MEEFAR, Kennethケネス・ミーファー
Brass octet based on nordic folk songs which consists of 7 movements. One third of the suite is arrangement of previously composed folk songs, another one third is music structured by using phrase and motifs from folk songs, and the last one third is newly composed music inspired by those folk songs.
北欧で書かれた民謡を元にした、7つの楽章による金管八重奏曲です。三分の一が既存の楽譜を元に拡大編曲を施したもの、三分の一が既存のフレーズやモチーフを元に構成したもの、残りの三分の一がこれらの楽曲にインスピレーションをうけて書き下ろしたものです。トランペットはBb管用とC管用の楽譜が含まれています。

Biber / Sonata Sancti Polycarpi (Early Baroque Series 10)

Sonata Sancti Polycarpi was composed by Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber in 1673 for 8 trumpets, timpani and basso continuo. This arrangement is for two choirs of 3 trumpets and trombone each. Original pitch is in C (one note higher).
ハインリッヒ・イグナツ・フランツ・フォン・ビーバーの1673年作「聖ポリカルピのソナタ」をブラスアンサンブル用にアレンジしました。原曲はトランペット８本とティンパニ及び通奏低音の構成ですが、ここではトランペット６本とトロンボーン２本の編成としています。
Castello / Sonata decima sesta (Early Baroque Series 9)

Sonata No.16 is composed by Dario Castello who was an instrumentalist (probably cornettist at St Marc.) in Venice in the first half of the 17 century. This piece is included in the second volume of his sonatas (published at Venice in 1629). The theme and the subtitle are not attached to this piece, however it is a song reminiscent of the war that was a fashion at the time. In this arrangement, taking advantage of the change in the musical thought, original 4 parts composition is expanded to ten parts, and in a style that the two quintets play as if two team are battling each other.
17世紀前半、イタリアのヴェニスで活躍していた器楽奏者、ダリオ・カステッロのソナタ集第２巻（1629年出版）からソナタ第16番を金管十重奏用にアレンジしました。この曲にテーマやサブタイトルはついていませんが、当時の流行りであった戦争を彷彿とさせるような曲です。このアレンジではその曲想の変化を活かして、原曲の器楽４声の編成を拡大し、２つに分かれた五重奏が掛け合いながら演奏するスタイルに仕上げました。

Schmelzer / Aria per il Balletto a Cavallo (Early Baroque Series 8)

"Aria per il Balletto a Cavallo" was composed by Johann Heinrich Schmelzer for the Wedding ceremony of the Emperor Leopold held on January 24, 1667. Those pieces were played by many trumpets, trombones and strings. And the horse ballet was displayed with the choreography.
Here, five pieces are arranged for 8 part brass ensemble which contains two banda trumpets.
「騎士バレエのための音楽」はヨハン・ハインリッヒ・シュメルツァーが1667年1月24日に開催されたレオポルド皇帝の結婚式のために作曲したものです。このイベントでは多数のトランペット、トロンボーン、ティンパニ、弦楽器などが華やかに演奏し、それに合わせて馬に乗った騎士達がフォーメーションを行ったとの記録があります。
ここではその曲集から５曲を金管八重奏用にアレンジしました。上演の際はトランペット２本をバンダとして配置し、エコーのように奏すると演奏効果があると思います。

Five pieces for 4 trumpets and 4 trombones are arranged from the dance music of William Brade.
Dynamics and ornamentation can be altered with the taste of players.

ウィリアム・ブレイドの舞曲集から５曲を金管八重奏にアレンジしました。
ダイナミクスはつけていませんので曲想に合わせて強弱を工夫してみてください。
また繰り返しの際にディミニューション（音価を分割した装飾）を付加してありますが、これは絶対的なものではないので、奏者各自のセンスで変更してもらっても構いません。

This waltz is one of the representative works of Strauss. It has a bright tropical atmosphere as the title.
シュトラウスの代表的ワルツのひとつを金管四重奏に編曲しました。タイトル通りの南国的な明るい雰囲気を持っています。
The Three-Cornered Hat, 2nd Suite

オーケストラ、吹奏楽でもよく演奏されるバレエ音楽「三角帽子」です。第2組曲の中から3曲を抜粋して金管アンサンブル用にアレンジしました。スペインの踊りがとても楽しい曲です。
