Cavalli / Canzona a8 (Early Baroque Series 2)
カヴァッリ ８声のカンツォーナ（初期バロックシリーズ ２）
This short piece is an eight-part canzona by the Italian composer Francesco Cavalli in the early Baroque period. The original score only indicates the instrument the first part for violin and the third part for viola, but there are no other instrument specifications. Probably the first choir was performed on string instruments and the second choir was played by four trombones. In this arrangement, the first choir is allocated to three trumpets and one trombone, and the second choir for one trumpet and three trombones, but the alternative music for the third and fifth parts added in trombone additionally. I think it may change the total sound to more profound if it is played in a formation of two trumpets and six trombones. The original key is in C, which is one tone higher.
初期バロック時代のイタリアの作曲家、フランチェスコ・カヴァッリの８声のカンツォーナです。オリジナルの楽譜には1st パートがViolin, 3rd パートがViolaと記載してあるのみで、他のパートについては楽器の指定は見られません。おそらく第１コーラスを弦楽器で、第２コーラスを４本のトロンボーンで演奏されたのではないかと思われます。このアレンジでは第１コーラスをトランペット３本とトロンボーン１本、第２コーラスをトランペット１本とトロンボーン３本としましたが、３番と５番パートをトランペットの代わりにトロンボーンで演奏することもできるようにパート譜を追加してあります。トランペット２、トロンボーン６の編成だとまた違った重厚なサウンドが楽しめると思います。なお、原調は長2度高い in C です。
